Sydney Open 2022

Exhilarating to visit Sydney Open ‘in the flesh’ after a two-year Covid hiatus.

Yet I always get that sinking feeling as the day progresses - so much beauty, too little time.  Just one Sunday to see 18 buildings is impossible.  So, I had to choose.  As always, I took my bike and had designed my itinerary carefully.  It doesn’t always go to plan of course.  You spend too much time in a building and then panic and spend too little time in others.  Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the buildings I ended up capturing with Cecil (my Canon 5D Mark III).

The Justice and Police Museum, The Masonic Club, now known as Castlereagh Boutique Hotel, The Registrar General’s Building, Quay Quarter, Kimpton Margot Hotel, Sydney.  As time relentlessly advanced, I didn’t arrive at The Masonic Centre until nigh on 3pm.   It’s that brutalist building on the corner as you head towards Central Station.   I didn’t have time to unpack Cecil, so I grabbed some iphone snaps.  An incredible place and the visit to the Masonic Museum on the 4th floor will remain etched in my memory.  The lack of female presence amongst all those portraits and rooms was quite disconcerting to me.
