Taronga Zoo, Sydney

A colleague offered me a free ticket to Taronga Zoo, so I jumped at the chance.  A great opportunity to give the new mirrorless camera an all-day work out.

I took my 70-200mm 2.8 lens plus the extender.  Given its electronic viewfinder, I was keen to find out how long the battery would last.  Conditions were not perfect, i.e. strong sunlight and quite a hot day.  Thankfully, clouds appeared occasionally to provide relief from the bright, contrasty conditions.

The heat also meant the animals were not as active during the middle of the day - a shame.  I was sad not to see some action from the gorillas, but the squirrel monkeys always play ball!  I can’t get enough of capturing their antics and the supreme agility of these monkeys never ceases to amaze me!

And yes, glad I took a spare battery as my primary battery only lasted until just after lunchtime.

A great day out and so lovely to meet pensioner Wayne who told me he visits his beloved goats every day of the year!
